What is a photography retreat?
At its simplest it’s an opportunity to escape from the ‘everyday’ and spend time with your camera and like minded people, a time to relax and rejuvenate. Of course each retreat will have its own specific focus or theme and the venue and schedule will be geared around that.
There may be the opportunity to join in a workshop or hear a speaker, again specifically chosen to compliment the theme.
Accommodations will vary but it is our intention to provide en suite bedrooms available for single use, however, there will always be the opportunity to share will a friend or partner if that is what you prefer.
Food will be provided, but again this will vary depending on the focus of the retreat.
The aim is to let you take time to slow down and do whatever you wish during the retreat, of course photography will be at the centre of all we do. If you want to get up for sunrise shoots then a portfolio of information will be provided to enable you to do that, but if you wish to relax with a cup of coffee or a glass of wine, chat with new found photographers and take a walk in the local area, capturing the surroundings, then there will be time for that as well.
What our photography retreats are not.
We will not create a highly structured agenda or schedule, there will be some guidelines e.g. the venue will require some indication of timings for meals. There will not be a strong focus on technique and training although if there is something you particularly want to find out about let us know in advance and we will do our best to help.
What would we like you to take from our retreats?
Firstly we hope that you go home refreshed, with your creative juices running. We hope you have had the chance to discuss photography in its widest sense and of course we would wish you to take home some treasured photographs.
Creativity Retreat 26th - 29th March 2020
This is an exciting retreat in the Peak District, created around the skills and expertise of Glenys Garnett. Glenys will be with us on day two of the retreat to share her unique style of image creation, there will then be plenty of opportunities to go out and capture images which you can use to create your own masterpieces.
